When: July 13-27 2009 SUMMARY The topic of the exchange combines cultural heritage with innovative and creative approaches to art. We have selected (together with our partners during the Advanced Planning Visit in May) an old photograph from Prespa, a rural and isolated region in Greece, on the border with FYR Macedonia and Albania, rich in culture, history and traditions. The photograph shows a group of people dancing a traditional Greek dance on the main square in the village of Antartiko in the 1950s.
Forty young people from Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Greece, and Serbia will spend two weeks in Prespa, will become familiar with history, tradition, culture and art; and will find the place for these in contemporary life. Participants will be divided into five groups (painting, installation, video, theater without words and creative writing). Each group will have a task to create something inspired by the old photograph in a modern, innovative and creative way, by using the art of the working group they are participating in. Also, all groups together will prepare a final show, which they will present on the 24th of July on the main square of Laimos and on the 25th of July on the main square of Antartiko. The groups will be mixed in order to ensure intercultural dialogue and more creative and innovative final results, because of the variety of cultures represented. The artistic part of the exchange will be accompanied by presentations, workshops, activities with the local community, trips around Prespa, social events and other, all contributing to the general objectives of the exchange.
EVENTS FOR THE PUBLIC This youth exchange is implemented in the framework of the European "Youth in Action" programme, Action 3.1
