The Cultural Triangle of Prespes (CTP)

Cultural Triangle of Prespa (CTP) is an independent, non-profit local NGO situated on Northwestern Greece, on the borders with Albania and fYR of Macedonia. Active on a local, cross-border and European level we implement activities in the Youth, Civil Society and Tourism Development sectors.

CTP is focused in actions that strengthen the equal, qualitative development, contribute at the mobilisation of the people of Prespes – concentrating on youth and women – and make the borders a comparative advantage.

CTP creates training opportunities and jobs, organising educational and informative actions and promoting civil society initiatives and collaborations.

Furthermore, CTP implements programmes concerning the research, preservation and utilisation of the cultural heritage, the mobilisation of citizens and institutions and the collaborations between them, as well as the development of an alternative model of tourism in a region rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage.

One of the main concerns and at the same time one of the tools for successful action is the collaboration between Civil Society Organisations, the support, the networking and the coordination of NGO activity.

The cross-border dimension of the CTP activities corresponds to the existing situation and the future prospects.  Of particular importance is the activation of CTP for the creation of the Prespa - Ohrid Euroregion and its participation in the relative processes, which are coordinated by the regional and local authorities and are supported by the European Council and the EWI.

The European orientation that is sought with the implementation of programmes in cooperation with organisations and institutions of member states of the European Union underlines the multidimensional character of the effort.

Through constant evaluation and open communication we discover new motives for the extension of our activities and objectives.

The Red Pepper
Image The Red Pepper The red pepper and its use in the region of Prespes was the subject of the programme “The Red Pepper”, which was realised by the Cultural Triangle of Prespes within the three shores of Lake Prespes with the financial support of GTZ.
In the context of this programme, which ran from August 2003 to July 2004, C.T.P. collaborated with the non-governmental organisations FOKUS in F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Ampep in Albania as well as with schools in the three border regions. The initial objective was to record the ways of cooking and ways of conservation of the pepper. The results of this investigation along with recipes, photographs by the Greek photographer Paris Petridis and other elements related to the pepper, which is a characteristic feature of the cross-border region of Prespes, are to be included in a book.
